Welcome to the possum palace family of sites. Possum Palace is the private sometimes web consultancy of Dan Mackinlay. I maintain a large stable of sites on these servers; the ones whose content is my own are linked here. Click on the pretty headings.
Who is behind all this? Me, Dan Mackinlay. You can find out about me from my blog, or various online profiles. (google, facebook, LinkedIn). My book marks are at diigo and pinboard. We'll see which of those ends up being more popular.
My research papers have freshly moved from livingthing.org.au to livingthing.org. (Sorry, no redirect until resolve my argument with the quaint institutions of Australian domain registration.) Stuff there is about complexity, emergence, human behaviour, geography, sustainability and economics.
My citation list lives at CiteULike.
Software, especially web development, has paid my bills since 2004. I specialise in complex algorithms, in government, cultural and NGO sectors. I'm not currently taking new clients as a solo operator. But if you are keen to get my involvement, why don't I introduce you to the Interaction consortium (a.k.a. IxC), the consultancy I affiliate myself with? They will happily assemble a team with me on it, plus awesome other people capable of doing rather suitably amazing things.
For your interest, some past projects which i have been partly or wholly responsible for:
I'm a worker in music and new media arts and in arts criticism. I play music solo as parking sun, and in the Sydney band Loom. You can find our work online at, for example, soundcloud, and my writing on my blog or Realtime Magazine.
